How can you speed up your miles collection and get more in a shorter period of time?

Kris+ is one of the ways to up your miles game.

Basically you have to

  1. Download the Kris+ app here. If you sign up with my referral code B303247, we’ll both get SGD 5 (in the form of 750 KrisPay miles) after your first SGD 5 payment on Kris+.
  2. Link your credit card to the Google wallet.
  3. Make payments at listed merchants using Google Pay.

When you make payment with Kris+, 2 things happen – you earn miles on the Kris+ app AND credit card. Basically, you’re earning miles in parallel.

Where can you spend? What is the MPD?

Kris+ has a list of merchants which allows you to earn from 1 MPD to 9 MPD.

I have compiled them and added categories to organize and get to know the merchants. To be honest, I never knew some of the merchants can be useful in terms of meeting my current spending and lifestyle needs while helping me earn more miles along the way.

Feel free to download it here and configure the filters to plan your spending.

In addition, I have also added the halal label to show which F&B merchants are halal-certified. Definitely a useful feature for muslims like myself.

What should your strategy be?

In order to maximize your miles collection, your strategy should look something like this.

  • Use a credit card that offers high MPD for your spending.
  • Refer to the merchant list and see where you can focus your spending on.

In a scenario where you spent $200 on a buffet at Asian Market Cafe. Not only will you earn points on your credit card (which you can redeem with miles), you can also stack it with additional $200 x 9 MPD = 1800 miles to your Kris+ account.

You can see how spending on merchants offering high MPD + stacking can boost your miles game.

What should you do after collecting miles on Kris+?

Immediately after earning your miles in Kris+, you have up to 21 days to transfer your miles from Kris+ app to your KrisFlyer account. If you don’t have a KrisFlyer account, you can sign up here.

Integrating Kris+ merchants into your daily spending is a good start.

But what if you want a significant boost? Like a miles hack.

Here are a few scenarios that may greatly help you 3x / 6x / 9x your miles in a shorter period of time.

Home Renovation

I am in the middle of my home renovation and have tapped on a few merchants to get more MPD.

As my cards have a monthly spending cap, my partner and I carefully planned the furniture and appliances to get and time it with our renovation timeline.

If you’re also renovating your home, lookout for brands such as

  • Hipvan for furniture.
  • Grohe and Hansgrohe for bathroom fittings.
  • Simmons, Sealy Posturepedic and Heveya for bedding.
  • Mayer, Ruhens, Parisilk, Audio House and iStudio for electical appliances.
  • Zansan for digital locks.

Dining Out

If you dine out often, you’ll be pleased to find many merchants offering attractive MPD. As a muslim, the halal* eateries matter to me most.

Who knew The Meatery gives you a meaty 6 MPD? You now have good reason to buy more cuts from them.

Aside from that, you may want to lookout for

  1. Amici Events and Catering for catering (duh).
  2. Nuodle and Tongue Tip for lunch / dinner.
  3. Asian Market Cafe, Ginger, Cherry & Oak, Peppermint for special occasions.
  4. Polar Puffs & Cakes and Famous Amos for snacks and quick bites.

* Halal status is accurate at the time of writing. Please check with the merchant directly to confirm before purchasing.

Activities and kids enrichment classes

Are you thinking of sending your kid to enrichment classes? Or planning a date with your significant other? You may want to consider these

  • Spin Paint House, The Art Nooq Tree Art and BazGym Gymnastics School for art / gymnastics classes.
  • The Green Capsule, Mount Faber Leisure and National Gallery Singapore for activities.

If haircuts, manicure / pedicure and hair removal appointments are a monthly affair, check out these merchants below

  • De Arte Hair Studio and Shunji Matsuo for women’s grooming.

Otherwise, if you’re long done with the wedding stage and have kids now, you may consider shopping at these merchants for childrens’ wear.

Will the reward mechanics change?

With more users on the Kris+ app, you can bet SIA will review and change the reward mechanics frequently.

Please do your own due diligence and check on the Kris+ app for the latest points information before making a purchase. There is a good chance the mechanics may have changed by the time you’re reading this.
